COMPETITION BACKGROUND
Based on the latest AUTUMN WINTER 2023-2024 trends from Xinao, “KNIT FOR NEXT 2022” aims to build a platform for fashion design students around the world to share their thoughts. We focus on enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of the natural environmental protection and excellent performance of wool and cashmere yarn through this competition. Together, we can knit a low-carbon and green future.

Participants
Students in fashion design major
from 18 - 30 years old,
without any restriction to gender / educational background / nation / religion.
Contestants may apply for entry
as a team
(max. 2 people).
（1） Designers can choose a theme or integrate multiple themes for creative design. The integration of multiple themes shall be indicated in the work and submitted through the channel of main themes.
（2） The work must use the yarn variety provided by the organizer. If other yarns are needed in the design, please provide them by yourself, * but the utilization rate of other yarns in each work shall not exceed 20% (the utilization rate of XINAO
yarn shall not be less than 80%).
（3） It is allowed to use flat knitting, shuttle knitting, and circular knitting fabric splicing process, but the proportion of flat knitting is not less than 80% (the proportion of shuttle knitting and circular knitting fabric splicing is not more than 20%).
（4） The pixel size of the work is not less than 2500x1500 (horizontal), the resolution is 150dpi, and it is saved in JPG format. The size of a single design drawing is not larger than 10M.
（5）A series of renderings shall be used for the first page of the works submitted by the contestants. Thereafter, each piece of clothing shall have a separate page of renderings, design renderings, size drawings, process instructions, color matching, structure instructions, yarn use instructions, and work introduction. Each set of works shall not exceed 3 pieces.
（6） If there are special patterns in the works, please give a detailed picture description or provide some sample samples of the patterns involved in the clothes.

Preliminary Stage
• Scoring and Judging for the preliminary round
• The result of the first round revealed online and candidates will be notified through email
Factory Training
• Before starting the garment making process, the finalists will be arranged by Xinao to go to the factory for training on the production process.
• They will adjust and modify the design draft after training.

Garment Making
• Candidates prepare their yarn datasheet, the organizer will deliver the yarn to the knitting factory.
• Candidates go to their correspondent knitting factory and assist in the production of the garments.
Final Stage &
Result
Announcement
• 10 series of garments will be exhibited, with scoring and voting.
• Ten groups of works will be marked, and various awards are selected based on the final total score.
• Awards will be given to contestants.

Attention
(1) The participants can be individuals or groups. If the participants are groups, no more than 2 people can participate, and the reward and post-competition fee is calculated by 1 person.
(2) travel expenses, sample making and yarn will be provided by Xinao for the finalists. For domestic and foreign designers, Xinao provides two solutions respectively:
1. Domestic designers
Xinao will arrange the clothing factory to make samples for the designers, and Xinao will provide the travel expenses and accommodation expenses for the designers to the factory. If the designer needs to go to the factory alone, he/she must obtain permission from the organizer.
If the designer needs to choose the clothing factory independently, Xinao will provide 5000 yuan for the cost of travel proofing
2. Foreign designers
Xinao arrangement clothing factory. In the form of online communication, Xinao will assist the factory to communicate with the designer. Designers don't have to go to the factory.
If the designer chooses his own clothing factory, Xinao will provide us dollar subsidy equivalent to RMB 5000.
(3) The travel expenses and accommodation expenses of the finalists for the Fashion Source exhibition will be provided by Xinao.
(4) All finalists will not be returned. Please keep your own manuscripts. Organizers have the right to publicize, publish and display all the finalists. The designer owns the intellectual property rights of the design manuscripts, but without the consent of the organizer, the designer is not allowed to publicize and publish the final works.
(5) original entries must be the participant, without the published works, not a draft cast more, such as have been published or copying entries, will be disqualified from the contest entries and the award-winning, constitute infringement of a third party including but not limited to, including copyright tort liability shall be borne by the participants to the third party, if caused loss to the organizer, participant shall be responsible for compensation.
(6) Contestants can submit only one piece of work.
(7) Previous finalists are not allowed to participate again.
(8) The personal information submitted by the contestant shall be true and valid. Any false personal information will result in the disqualification of the contestant and the award.
(9) Participants should strictly abide by the competition discipline and schedule;
(10) The organizer reserves the right of final interpretation of relevant matters of this event. Anything not mentioned will be notified separately.
Application
When submitting the work, you should include Overall Effect, Technical Details(including Overall Effect of each piece of clothing, Detail of Individual Item, Yarn Selection, Yarn Color, Knitting Structure), Dimensional Drawing. Pages of Inspiration, Color Specification, Craft, and Modeling Specification should be attached as well.
The Overall Effect, Technical Details, and Dimensional Drawing need to use fixed format specifications.
